Perfect for the cook who enjoys the "science of cooking". This cutting board has been laser engraved with the Periodic Table. The engraving will not wear off. Both the front and back of the board are useable.
The cutting board is made with solid hard maple (the photo shows cherry, but we have found that maple makes the laser engraved information more legible) by Cabinetmake/Artist Paul Szewc of Guelph.
FDA approved water resistant glue (Titebond 111) which is food safe and formaldehyde-free is used. The majority of Bamboo products available on the market use inexpensive formaldehyde glue, which is toxic. No wooden cutting boards or utensils made with formaldehyde glue should ever be used with food.
Our boards are finished with food grade mineral oil and beeswax.
All boards are made with new wood. Reclaimed/recycled woods can be toxic and should never be used in food products such as cutting boards or utensils. (Formaldehyde Free)
No stains have been used.
This board can be used as a cutting board, serving board, or as a trivet for hot dishes.
Care: simply wipe with damp soapy cloth. Do not let sit in water or put in dishwasher. Oil with cooking oil when wood feels dry.
The board has been been finger jointed together. (A finger joint or comb joint is a woodworking joint made by cutting a set of complementary rectangular cuts in two pieces of wood, which are then glued. To visualize a finger joint simply interlock the fingers of your hands at a ninety degree angle; hence the name "finger joint." It is stronger than a butt or lap joint, and often contributes to the aesthetics of the piece.) This means there is more of a gluing surface and the boards will never come apart. This is the best joint possible, unlike mitre joints that will eventually come apart.
Please Note: Due to the natural variance in wood grain, your board may differ slightly from the board in the photos.
